CENECO Announcement:

DAMAGED NGCP SUBMARINE CABLE CHARGES 100% REFUNDED

CENECO informs its electricity consumers that the refund of the charges for National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’
(NGCP) damaged Cebu-Negros submarine cable has been fully implemented.

 

It can be recalled that the NGCP submarine cable in Amlan, Negros Oriental was damaged in June 2021 which resulted to the increase in the power rates of Negros and Panay Island electric distribution utilities.

 

The charges relative to the damaged NGCP submarine cable that were collected in the billing months of June, July and August 2021 were refunded in the billing months of November 2021, December 2021 and January 2022, respectively.

 

The refund is reflected in the generation rate and the implementation of the said adjustments is based on the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines’s (IEMOP) computation.

 

A total of P279,559,295.83 was refunded to the consumers from November 2021 to January 2022.
