April 9, 2022 – Saturday
A scheduled power interruption was set by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in connection with the ongoing Visayas Substation Reliability Project 1 (Connection of 69kV CENECO Lines 1 and 2 at Bacolod substation).
Areas under Burgos Feeders 1, 2, 3 and 4 are affected by the 12-hour power interruption from 6am to 6pm, and Mt. View Feeders 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5 from 6am to 10am, while areas connected to Talisay and Silay Feeders are originally scheduled to have no power from 6am to 7am and 5pm to 6pm only since their load will be temporarily shifted to NGCP’s Cadiz-Silay 69kV line.
However, at 2:03pm, the Cadiz-Silay 69kV line obtained a line trouble at Manapla, thus needing NONECO linemen to conduct an emergency repair of the cut-off conductor loop along the aforementioned 69kv line which affected the power supply in CENECO’s Mt. View, Talisay, and Silay substations (SS).
At about 4:30pm, after our crew finished their work at the switch yard of NGCP and were preparing for the energization of the new CENECO 69kV line along circumferencial road, and after seeking clearance from NGCP, the attempt to energize the new line failed due to unforseen trouble. Several corrections on the detected fault on the line were made, however, still failed to energize the Mountain View and Burgos Feeders.
At 6:30pm our line crew started to revert the Mt. View SS and Burgos SS to its original source. The team was able to enegrize the Mountain View Feeders between 7:08 to 7:13 pm while Burgos Feeders were energized at about 8:29pm.
We are hoping for your understanding and rest assured that we are doing our best that the same situations will be avoided in the future.
