CENECO POWER RATE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2023

CENECO POWER RATE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2023

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. informs its electricity consumers that the average residential rate for the billing month of May 2023 is Php12.9637/kwh, an increase of P0.2266/kWh, from last month’s rate of P12.7371/kWh.

The P0.2266/kWh rate increase is attributed to the following:

1. Total Generation charges increased by 4.15% as compared to previous month due to increase in WESM price from Php7.5527/kWh to Php8.9556/kWh or an upward adjustment of Php1.4036/kWh; and

2. Implementation of additional Universal Charges – Missionary Electrification rate of Php0.0433/kWh covering CYs 2013 and 2014 True-up Adjustments per ERC Notice of Resolution dated 22 March 2023.

The pass-through charges equivalent to P11.7771/kWh of the total power rate include the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes. Only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to CENECO through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges for its administrative and operational services, and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable CAPEX (RFSC).

Since 2010, CENECO’s DSM and RFSC rate has not changed.

In monitoring the monthly electricity usage, consumers are advised to look at their kilowatt-hour consumption and not on the bill amount since it varies depending on the pass-through charges as shown above.

While the world market fuel prices remain volatile, hence adversely affecting electricity rates, CENECO Board and Management continue to remind its electricity consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills.
