CENECO AUGUST ELECTRICITY RATES DOWN BY P2.5077/kWh

CENECO announces that the average residential electricity rate for August 2024 decreased to P10.8380/kWh from last month’s rate of P13.3457/kWh.
CENECO AUGUST ELECTRICITY RATES DOWN BY P2.5077/kWh

The rate decrease of P2.5077/kWh is mainly attributed to the following contributory factors:

1. Total Generation Charge decreased by 21.55% as compared to the previous month due the decrease in Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) price from P10.4293/kWh to P6.6063/kWh or a downward adjustment of P3.8230/kWh.

2. Cessation of Collection of Additional Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification amounting to P0.0433/kWh as per PSALM advisory effective August 2024 billing.

See the comparative table of the unbundled residential rates for the billing months of August and July 2024.

The pass-through charges equivalent to P9.6514/kWh of the total electricity rate include the Generation and Transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes. Only P1.1866/kWh of the electricity rate goes to CENECO through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable CAPEX (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services. Since 2010, CENECO’s DSM and RFSC rate has not increased.

Despite the electricity rate decrease, CENECO continues to remind its consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills.
