June 14, 2024
By virtue of the Provisional Authority granted by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to implement the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) between CENECO and the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) last May 29, 2024, EDC started its 20 MW base load power supply to CENECO today, June 14, 2024.

With the additional power from EDC, the exposure of CENECO to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) where electricity price is unstable, will be minimized. A reduction of rates is expected in next month’s billing.

The contract between CENECO and EDC is the outcome of a Competitive Selection Process (CSP) conducted by the Third Party Bids and Awards Committee (TPBAC).

Acting General Manager Atty. Arnel Lapore would like to commend the TPBAC, the Corporate Planning Department and the Board of Directors for their relentless efforts to secure the approval of ERC on CENECO’s Motion to implement the PSA.

The Cooperative also acknowledges the support of Negros Occidental Acting Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez in urging the ERC to grant the Motion the soonest possible time.
